Message As promised, it's time to update you guys as to some of the big plans we've been working on for ZCON 2004.

A message from Damon:

ZCON 2004 TwinTurbo.NET schedule of events:

Things are still in the formative stages, but the larger parts are concrete. Ticket costs are still in flux as we're trying to do something a little better then the 'minimums' for both events and there are some external forces at play that can reduce costs. Overall it's not inexpensive, but it's not being held in Jerkwater, BFE either. The cost of living is a bit higher in L.A. than in most of the country.

Thursday June 17th - We've rented the Windsor Salon on the world famous Queen Mary in Long Beach to hold our second TwinTurbo.NET banquet dinner. The one in San Antonio was what we considered a success and we wanted to do it again in L.A. for 2004, only bigger. The ZCON schedule has the track day @ Willow Springs in the morning/afternoon. As such, there should be enough time to get back from the conclusion of that event, get cleaned up and still make the end of dinner service. Dinner, drinks, a few speeches, some ramblings from myself and hopefully from Greg (He should be a proud new parent by then), some new website things in the 'user' portion of the program, door prizes, etc. We're also planning on having a simple Show and Shine People's Choice car show in the parking lot of the QM. Winners will receive prizes for that as well. Hopefully it will be a prelim to Saturday's big ZCCA show. Ticket purchase will (so far) get you admission, dinner, a T-shirt and a personalized tt.NET lanyard and laminate. Currently, ticket prices are the $45 range and we're planning on accomodating 150-200 people. The Event runs from 7pm to midnight. We haven't pinpointed how dinner service will work or what time since people will be arriving at different times but we're working on that.

Friday June 18th - The 'Hangover Nationals' as we've been jokingly calling them at Dromo 1 indoor karting in the late morning/early afternoon. Also on this day, the ZCON convention schedule has a second day to tour Catalina Island (the first is earlier in the week). Seedy says I can't get any Catalina salad dressing straight from the cow there, so what's the point? We're doing a full on program to determine the King of the Karting Hill. Three races per person, eight laps each race, with points awarded for finishing positions. Then one Semi-Final race for all drivers, followed by a 10-lap Grand Final for the top nine racers, finishing with an Awards Ceremony and trophies on the podium for the top three finalists. Currently, ticket prices are in the $65 range, we're planning on accomodating 40-60 racers. Event runs from 12:30p to 4p, so there's still time to detail for the ZCCA car show the next day. We're also working on getting a top flight paintless dent removal company out there to work on cars while we race.

Okay, back to me (Seedy) for a second. Here's some pictures I took on my trip down to the Queen Mary and from my last trip to Dromo1

The RMS Queen Mary (don't worry, it's permanently docked)

And another view

Our stage where we plan to setup a projector and podium

We'll have big dinner tables (seating 8-10) all around the salon as opposed to the aisle seating pictured. Everyone will have a good view of the stage.

One of the many tours available during the day is of the decommissioned Soviet Foxtrot-class submarine known as "The Scorpion".

And here's a snapshot from our last trip to Dromo1. These aren't your ordinary Go-Karts...they haul ass :) There's air hockey, pool tables, wall-climbing and a big screen TV to keep you occupied between runs.

Or you could just detail your car in the parking lot. Plenty of room to accommidate 50 cars since we'll have the place to ourselves.

I think that covers it for now. There's more info to come as we get closer, so keep an eye on the Events section and anything major will be posted here in the main forum.
